Phil & Emily

This is the place where I would typically write a synopsis of a couple’s wedding day. I talk about the beautiful day, the dress and what a great couple they are.

This time, it’s more difficult to find the right words.  I love ALL of my wedding couples, don’t get me wrong.  But these two… they’re special.

I read a quote recently that went something like, “Having a cousin is like having a piece of childhood that can never be lost.”  I think that’s the most magical part about having Emily for a cousin.  We drift along toward this thing called adulthood, but when we do see each other it’s like childhood is right there at our fingertips.  And although Phil didn’t come on the scene until much later, they fit so perfectly together that it’s like he’s been here all along!

I’m so happy to have had the honor of witnessing and capturing the love and true friendship between these two!

(Special thanks to Craig John Photography for teaming up with me and for some of the beautiful images you see here.  It was a real treat to put the camera down and hit the dancefloor!)

Josh & Brittany

Josh & Brittany’s day was filled with so much love & laughter.  They did an amazing job of bringing out so many special elements that were unique to them.

Even the priest during the ceremony talked about how there has never and will never be a couple quite like Josh & Brittany.  They are uniquely suited to each other like no one else in the world.  That really struck a chord with me, because it does seem to be such a perfect way to describe them.  Having known Brittany for many years and meeting Josh for the first few times preparing for the wedding, the thing that really struck me about them is that sense that something here just fits.  It always gives me warm fuzzies to get that feeling that all is right with the universe because two pieces of a puzzle managed to find their way to each other.

Celebrating their day was such an honor and it was lovely to see the immense joy that surrounds these two in their family and friends.

Congratulations & so much love to you Josh & Brittany!

One Year of Xavier!

First year sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph!  They start as these snuggly, squishy little babies and right before your eyes you see them start to develop a personality.  They start to have a sense of humor, they start to move around and they start to have a voice.  It’s amazing.  And I get to give them back at the end of the session, so it’s like a win-win for me.  :)

I met Mr. X just a few days after he was born and it’s been so wonderful to watch him grow.  His mom and dad, even if they didn’t know it then, were totally naturals when it came to the whole parenting thing.  They’re such a cool family.  Like in the literal sense that all 3 of them are just people you want to hang out with.

And as a side note: for any of my local readers who are looking for an amazing stylist- I HIGHLY recommend Xavier’s mom Kristin!  She’s at The Salons of Conservancy Court in Saukville.

Thanks for sharing your little guy with over the past year Nick & Kristin!

Marcus & Scott’s Milwaukee Edelweiss Cruise Wedding

I’ve been looking forward to featuring this beautiful wedding since last summer!  I often say that the weddings that get me right in the feels are the ones that are all about individuality and connection.  This wedding is the PERFECT example of this.

Scott & Marcus traveled all the way from their home in Germany to get married here in Milwaukee.  Family and friends in this area and from Germany came together to help join Scott & Marcus in marriage and it was truly amazing to see the love surrounding them.  Like, literally surrounding them!  One of my favorite parts of their wedding ceremony was that, instead of the wedding guests sitting in pews to watch the ceremony, they had everyone seated around them.  They were literally enveloped by love and support as they said their vows.

Their individuality certain came through from the first moment of their ceremony when they walked side-by-side down the aisle to the most beautiful, romantic instrumental version of “Everything is Awesome” from the Lego Movie!  They had incredible vocalists who sang perfectly selected music throughout and I seriously had goosebumps through almost the entire ceremony.

The ceremony was followed up by a cruise and dinner with the Edelweiss River Cruise Line.  It started out rainy but around the time we reached The Milwaukee Art Museum the clouds parted and we had a sunny ride back – perfect timing since The Calatrava is breathtaking from that angle.  The cruise was the perfect way to celebrate.  There was plenty of space for everyone to mingle and no shortage of sights along the way that made perfect conversation starters.  There’s no better way to show off Milwaukee to first-timers!

I’m so lucky to have been able to hang out with such an amazing couple and be so welcomed by their family.  I also want to mention how lucky I feel that I can share these moments with the world as a testimony that LOVE IS LOVE!

Mitch & Jalayne’s Blue Harbor Wedding

Mitch & Jalayne’s Blue Harbor wedding was so elegant and classy, but SO FAR from being stuffy or boring! With such fun friends and family, there was no way this party was going down without a ton of laughs, love and of course some killer dancing!

These two are one of those couples that are just so comfortable and easy going around each other that you can’t help but feel at ease around them too.  Their love for their family and friends was so evident throughout the day, especially their love for their adorable little boy!

Thank you for the honor of capturing your day Mitch & Jalayne!  And for indulging me in going out in the rain at night! LOL!
